Shopping, Cabin, Dinner, Bonfire, etc.
I had the past four days to play. I had Monday off for the holiday, and I took a vacation day on Tuesday to make it an extra long weekend. I'll start back on Friday night.... Friday evening I went shopping with my friend Cristel and her 2-1/2 year old son. He is so cute! I really need to start getting some pictures and posting them so you can see some of the people I talk about. Pictures add so much to a blog. Anyway, we went to Old Navy and he saw a pair of dinosaur slippers that he wanted to get. I couldn't help but laugh because they were so cute on him! :) They are these puffy, big green slippers with long claws on them. I have to laugh now as I think about him wearing them through the mall! This is why I need to take pictures. You have to see them! I'll see if I can get a picture of him with them on.
On Saturday, I went with Cristel and her son, Brendon, to her grandparents cabin which is just north of Big Rapids. It takes about an hour and a half to get there. Her sister was there with her daughter, and her stepmom was there too. (Chel, you know her - Mary Kay) Her grandpa owns 40 acres up there on Pickerel Lake. It is surrounded by woods with many trails. The cabin was amazing! Where do I begin in trying to describe it......I couldn't even soak it all in. When you walk in, all you see is beautiful wood. The floors, the table and chairs, all the doors and door frames, the staircase......and then you look up and all you see is animals..... LOTS of them! I'm not joking.... they are all animals he has hunted. I can't even guess at the number of animals he must have had hanging all around the living room. Maybe I will guess just to give you an idea - ummmmm..... at least 15. Some of them were just the head of a moose or a deer, and some of them were the whole animal. It was amazing inside! He also had many different sheds all over the property. It's a hobby of his to build sheds. One of them was an outhouse with a sign on the door that read "Explosives". :) Another shed stored a jeep and a tractor and a couple of others were built for hunting. The hunting ones were even nice! They had wood stoves in them and a table and chairs. I'm not sure what all the other sheds had in them, if anything. They may have just been for looks. He took the jeep out and took all of us for a ride around the property and all throughout the trails. He has a tape that he likes to play during the jeep ride that has outdoor sounds on it. It had birds chirping, and rain and thunder. He also has a couple of motorized carts that we drove around the property. As we were driving those around, I was noticing little spots that would be great for sitting and praying, or listening to God. The area was beautiful. Oh yeah, I almost forgot.....he has a pontoon boat too so we went for a ride around the lake.
On Sunday, I helped my mom out while she is still recovering from surgery. I did laundry for her and we had dinner and a bonfire that evening. I love this time of year! I love the smell of a bonfire, and the feel of the crisp cool air.
Monday - boring...... I didn't do much of anything. Really, that's ok though because I was busy before that and then I knew on Tuesday I would be going to Shipshewana. I bought a cute little purse from Shipshewana, a tape measure for $1, and they had the kind of Cover Girl foundation I use for $2! I enjoy seeing the Amish in their horse and buggys or riding their bikes. It's so different to see all the clothes hanging on the clothesline to dry. We live in such a fast pace, don't we?
